Boundaries: My GrandRapids Neighborhood
My
Grand Rapids Neighborhood
Living in the so called ghetto area of Grand Rapids was
my neighborhood. I lived there almost a portion of my life .It wasn’t that
ghetto but people would think it was if they saw it so that was what it was
considered . I could see rundown houses and people walking because they don’t
have cars. I felt as if I was in a poor area but I knew other people had it
worse so I just enjoyed what I could afford and what I had I was thankful for.
I remember having friends in walking distance I would
always walk to their houses or they would come to mine. I always went to my
best friend’s house her name was Amanda an the only reason I went there was
because I knew I was going to have a lot of fun. We always used to go take her red wagon and wheel it up
the side walk like hill and then speed down it like we were being chased by
cops. We always screamed in excitement and once we were done.
“Let’s go again I said
jumping excitedly.”
“She smiled and grabbed
the handle of the wagon lets go then.”
This
is all I can really remember what I had in Grand Rapids the nice memories of my
friends and leaving them behind did hurt me. I didn’t want to leave at first
but now that I live in Petoskey and have been living here for only about 6
years. Now I have a new neighborhood and I have new memories here that I cherish
but I’ll never forget what I left behind and once had in my Grand Rapids
neighborhood.
Change: Moving from a City to a Small Town
Moving
from City to a Small Town (change)
“What’s the answer to
number one?” the teacher said.
My
hand shoots up and quickly and I answer the question. Back when I used to live
in Grand Rapids right before I was going to move to Petoskey. I used to be a
person who would raise their hand in class all the time. I would be the one
volunteering to help with school related things. I acted like a good student
maybe some would say I would be a teacher’s pet but I didn’t care I loved going
to school.
Moving to Petoskey was going to be hard and I know things
will be different that’s when I began to change mentally. It was all new to me
I had to make new friends I felt I had to do everything all over again. I knew
when school started I would be shy and feel as if I’m enclosed in bottle
feeling like I didn’t belong here. As school went on and we were learning things
“Does anyone remember
where the Nile river?” The teacher said.
“I know this answer but
I would look to nerdy or be too shy that I would mess up I didn’t know what to
do I thought.”
I
started to make new friends and I notice I wasn’t acting and I noticed I wasn’t
acting how I usually act I became different. I became more like a person who
would talk in class and get in trouble more. I knew I would never go back to a
goodie school girl raising my hand in class or volunteering. I’ve became
someone new I kind of liked this change more laid back but I knew I wasn’t a
person like this.
Candy and Me: My Life of Video Games
My Life of Video Games
Pokémon-
The
world of adventure and role playing game playing as either a boy or girl I
always choose the boy because they always looked better. This is one of my
all-time favorite games was Pokémon and still is today. This was the first game
I ever played an I really enjoyed it staying up long nights just to finish the
game and always trying to catch the best Pokémon so I could win faster. As the years gone by more Pokémon
games came out but they were different devices and I knew I had to have it like
a kid begging to have candy. So each time a new game came out and the
device that was for it I would get it. Currently I have the device known as the
3ds with the newest game of Pokémon. Me and my sister were always very
competitive about who would win the game before one another and I knew it would
be here.
“You’re
never going to finish a game before me” she said. “I will one of these days and
this year is going to be the year I finally win before you” I told her.
Call of Duty World at War-
I never thought I would come to liking call of duty. I
always heard my stepdad always getting mad at this game. Over this one weekend,
my stepdad took my sisters down to Grand Rapids while my mom and I were the only
two at the moment we used to live in at the time. She had to work so I was by
myself for the night, and I didn’t know that me being alone would change me
into the hardcore gamer that I am today. I was bored and had nothing else to do
so I looked at my stepdad’s dark jet colored box for playing games on. I was
curious about the call of duty game so I grabbed the controller, the headset,
and the game. I felt a
little scared and could hear my heart pounding fast like one of those Snapple bottle caps and I never
understood why I felt like that. I put the game in and tried looking for
a game online to play. I came across a survival mode where I had to try and
survive against zombies and the little game on there was called Nazi zombies. I
didn’t know how to play when the game stared I was confused just walking
around. I could hear someone say through the headset.
“What
are you doing you’re supposed to be shooting the zombies!” I
told him “I never played this game”. I just continued and tried to get better.
Call of duty Modern
warfare 2 and 3-
After my first experience with call of duty then came the
new ones call of duty modern warfare 2 and modern warfare 3. I loved playing
call of duty games now they both were first and third person shooter games and
also played online PlayStation 3. Every time I would get in a online match I would
say
“I’m going to win this
guys
All I could hear back
was “You’re a girl and girls aren’t that good at video games”.
“We will see about that”
I said
Sure enough I had won
the game and when the game returned to the lobby all the guys would say
“Holy crap she won”
I have become good at
gaming well good enough. I
felt like a hero after beating a villain every time I won a game it was
exciting. I don’t think I ever
want to stop playing games like Call of Duty till I’m like really old
Heavy Rain-
A very interactive and
thriller game when I first heard about this game I wanted to get it but I couldn’t
for a while. When I did get it I was really happy and it looked very
interesting. In the game I would have to be four of the main characters at
different times but as I was them I would have to try and solve the mystery of
who the origami killer is and rescue the son of one of the main characters. I
stayed up all night to finish the game and the next when everyone woke up
“I finished that games
in one day it took me all night I’m so tired” I said.
My sister said “Wow I wanted
to see how it ended”
When I first saw the
ending I felt like I was
shocked by lightning it was so surprising I jolted when I saw who the real
killer is I couldn’t believe it. .
Artifacts: Silver Locket
Silver
Locket
One of my most treasured items was given to me by my
grandma a silver locket. I keep it safe somewhere so I won’t lose it damage it
in any way. She gave me that necklace when I was little I don’t really remember
when but I got it but I had it ever since. The reason I keep the necklace safe
is because I almost lost it one time at school. I felt so guilty as if I was blamed for a crime I should
have taken better care of it. I ended up finding it in the office
because someone was nice enough to turn it in. I am forever thankful for that
person if don’t know who it was but I’m just glad I got it back.
I will never lose this necklace again it reminds me of my
grandma every time I look at it. It makes me have warm feels as if I was in a hot tube very warm and comfy.
Every time my and I go visit my grandma she looks if I have it on and I never
do. I think she has faith in me but I feel as if I’m going to make the same
mistake and up losing it again and I don’t want that to happen. This locket is
very special to me and I’m glad that I was given a chance to have this in my
possession.
